A Prayer for Orange Shirt Sunday
September 29, 2024
Dear Heavenly Father,
We love You. We worship You. You are our God!
Hear now the prayer of Your children as we mark this week the Orange Shirt day for our
Indigenous people. Divine Healer, our eyes are open and we repent of the dark part of our
Nation’s history. We ache with sorrow for the violence against First Nations, Metis and Inuit families and their children, for the injustice brought against their languages and cultures in Canada’s Indian Residential schools. Forgive us.
Strengthen us now to honour them, as we pray for inter-generational survivors who are still struggling; and for those who speak the truth and shine a light of hope, peace, justice, forgiveness, healing and restoration. May these concepts become loving deeds and concrete action. Remind us always to act with compassion, courage and love toward each other.
Loving Spirit, bless us now as we lift our petitions at Chapel in the Park:
Grant your mercies and safe journey to those who are traveling this week
Comfort and embrace the Mariano family as they grieve the passing of Arnel’s mom in Ohio
Provide healing and restoration for the many victims of recent floods and hurricanes
May we learn through these disasters how to care for and preserve our environment
Extend your healing touch to strengthen those who are sick, lonely or hurting among us
(Harry, Dave and Sandra, Karlene, Dolores, Carolyn, Joan, Rudolph, Pat, Leslyn and others)
Grant wisdom to our Search Committee as we pray for a new Musical Director
May You raise up volunteers to run our Zoom, compose our bulletin and count the offerings
All these we pray in the Name of the Faithful One who taught His disciples to say:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive
our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
